Our dentists and team use the latest dental technologies to enhance the quality of your treatment. Among the technologies that our office uses are digital X-rays and 3D imaging. These advanced diagnostic tools allow us to make quick and accurate diagnoses of developing problems and to plan and perform more precise, comfortable and effective treatments.
Digital X-rays and 3D imaging rely on small digital sensors to capture images of your teeth and supporting structures so that our dentists can more closely examine your mouth. These sensors capture high-quality images quickly and comfortably, projecting them onto a nearby monitor where they can be easily viewed.
Problems that digital imaging allows us to diagnose easily include:
- Tooth decay
- Developmental abnormalities
- Improper tooth root positioning
- Cysts, tumors and abscesses
- Bone loss and infection in the tooth nerves
- Fractures in the teeth or in existing fillings
- TMJ disorders
- Abnormal teeth
- Dental and facial trauma
Once a problem is diagnosed, our dentists can use the images to plan out an effective treatment. Captured images are commonly used to plan and perform oral surgery, implant placement, TMJ treatment, root canals and orthodontic treatments.
Digital imaging is also very safe for use. Unlike film radiography, it does not use any chemicals to develop the images. It also produces significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays.
