Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is a nitrogen-oxygen mixture, which you receive via inhalation. Our dentists will place a small nose mask over your face before you begin treatment. As you inhale, this mixture will create a relaxed sensation and help you feel more at ease in our office. Some patients also report a “floating” or “euphoric” sensation. The effects of nitrous oxide sedation wear off within a few minutes of removing the nose mask, allowing you to safely drive yourself home.
We may recommend nitrous oxide if:
